During cruise, with no warning both FMS units suddenly failed. This is the second time this has happened to me, and on both occasions we needed radar assistance to get sorted out as quickly as possible. There has been no fault history on either a/c, and both times systems reverted to normal after full power down (on ground).

In cruise after about 2 hours, with no change or input for previous 20 minutes or so, both throttles slowly closed and speed started to decay. Despite manual throttle advancement, autothrottles continued to try and retard levers despite speed decrease to about M.78. Normal operation returned after about 2 minutes and unable to reproduce fault on ground. Cabin searched for passenger use of telephones etc but nothing found.

Watch out for altitude excursions during cruise if turbulence mode engaged in autopilot. The worst Ive seen is nearly 500 feet.

I recently had a passenger caught smoking in the toilet after cabin staff smelt smoke around the door. The smoke detectors did not pick it up, and on landing they were all checked and 3 had a lot of dust in them. This was preventing the smoke from entering the units. May I suggest that a quick "blow" whilst you do your walkround may help to prevent dust from building up, and possibly prevent an undetected toilet fire.

Watch out for FMS loosing 1 (or possibly more) waypoints without any alert. (aircraft turns towards incorrect next waypoint). In our case, aircraft route A-B-C-D-E etc , with B-C-D being dog leg around an active danger area. As we turned over B, we became aware turn was continuing and aircraft started pointing at D, having lost C !.
